THE KAFUE AT
For 6 years we have been sharing our home, and our wild spaces in the Kafue National Park with the world.
Our family allows your family to affordably discover an area of untouched wilderness with our tents & campsite.
Accessible by car or plane, depending on your preference? Mapunga is located in the heart of the Kafue National Park only 5 hours drive from Lusaka city centre.
Explore the Kafue wilderness and everything this beautiful area has to offer by boat and vehicle in both the Park and the Busanga Plains.
Tents & Campsite
Mapunga is the ideal place for any traveller, with the option of a simple camping spot under the shade of a beautiful fig, or in one of our tents made for those looking for a bit more luxury in the wild.
Mapunga is home, home for those travelling to Kafue National Park and home to the Geldenhuys family.
Truly magical part of Zambia. Wonderful fishing for the whole family and the flora and fauna are absolutely amazing !!! The camp is so well run and gives you a true bush experience. Can’t recommend it enough.

The Geldenhuys family have certainly found a gem in the Kafue National Park.
Their love for the area reflects in their service and activities. We loved every moment of our stay at Mapunga. From the friendly hospitality, to the exciting activities and sightings and of course the great fishing for someone who has no clue how to really fish.
Thank you Greg & Chippy! What a great place!

The staff, location, game viewing and fishing were all 5*. Chippy and his team gave us such a wonderful welcome and at no point did their attentiveness waiver. We did as much as we could in the time that we had and saw fantastic game (everything you could possibly see in Kafue National Park) in each of our drives and boat trips. We would especially recommend a trip out to the Busanga Plains. It’s an early rise but well worth it! Chippy and John are experts at what they do - we were beyond impressed! Thank you so much for such a wonderful time. We would recommend Mapunga to anyone and look forward to coming back one day.
